The Windows 10 Anniversary Update will be available for free from 2 August 2016.
The update promises to bring a number of new features to Microsoft’s operating system.
This includes support for Windows Hello’s biometric authentication to apps, including the Edge browser.
Other new features will include Pen support with the sticky note app and virtual drawing tools; and unification between the Windows 10 and Xbox One app stores.
Microsoft also announced the launch of Linux Bash support, which will integrate the Bash command line shell and support for Ubuntu Linux binaries into Windows 10.
To celebrate the availability of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft will launch several special offers in the US.
Students can save $300 when they buy an Xbox One and Surface, or get a free TV when they buy a Dell PC over $699.
Consumers can get $150 off select HP5 devices or $100 off select Asus and Samsung devices.
