CareerJunction has released its Index executive summary (CJI) for July 2016, which shows which skills are the most wanted by South African companies.
“The CJI represents online labour dynamics in South Africa by providing a detailed analysis of the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market,” said CareerJunction.
The CJI is based on data gathered from the CareerJunction website and takes information on professions across all industries into account, said the company.
Most in-demand job skills in South Africa
The report found that the IT industry continued to see an uptake in jobs during the past month, with demand increasing by 18% since January.
The IT sector was the top employment sector in the CJI – based on online hiring activity – and shows positive employment prospects for workers.
The IT industry also topped the “High in Demand” list, indicating that there is a strong need to fill IT vacancies in South Africa.
In terms of most-wanted skill sets in South Africa, Software Developer topped the pile.
“Programmers and Software Developers are at the forefront of market demand. This is especially true for programmers with .Net and or C# skills,” said CareerJunction.
Software Development was followed by “Middle Management” and “Financial/Project Accounting” positions, which form the top three most-wanted skill sets.
