Google’s next update for Chrome – Chrome 55 – will include an upgraded JavaScript engine that reduces the amount of memory the browser consumes.

According to a report by Engadget, the update to Chrome sees the browser use 50% less RAM on average than Chrome 53 when Google tested it on several sites.

The completed update is set to roll out for desktop on 6 December.

The report stated that users with low-RAM devices and those who run multiple browser tabs at once will benefit from the update.
