New Ster-Kinekor ticket booking website doesn’t use Flash

Ster-Kinekor has unveiled a new Flash-less website moviegoers can use to book tickets.

The new site has not fully replaced Ster-Kinekor’s old portal yet, though.

When you navigate to, the familiar Flash site appears, but displays a “website under construction” notice:

“Hey there, you may experience a few errors when booking a movie at certain cinemas. If you cannot access a cinema, you can contact our call centre on 0861–668437.

“Alternatively log on to Thanks for your patience – Enjoy your movie!”

Whole new enterprise-wide system being rolled out

Ster-Kinekor said that the new website is part of the process of implementing an enterprise-wide  cinema point-of-sale platform which is regarded as the industry-leading solution globally.

“This will enable SK to leverage technology across customers’ experiences, our operational efficiencies as well as business performance,” the company said.

“As such we’ve had to launch an interim website running in conjunction with the old SK Flash website during the switch-over phase in order to enable some of the new functionality provided by the solution.”

Ster-Kinekor said it aims to complete the roll-out of the new system by 30 November, at which point the interim website will become the only online booking channel for all SK cinemas.

Regarding its mobile app, Ster-Kinekor said it would launch a new one by the time all its cinema sites are on the new point-of-sale platform.

“We are aiming for all services to continue as seamlessly as possible and to ensure minimum disruption to our customers’ experiences,” Ster-Kinekor said.
