Google says coding school graduates are not ready to work
A report by Bloomberg has highlighted how many graduates from coding schools are not prepared to work in software engineering jobs at companies like Google after graduation.
The report – titled: Want a Job in Silicon Valley? Keep Away From Coding Schools – details how coding schools are big business in the US, charging high fees for their courses.
Unfortunately for graduates, Google said it has not always had a good experience with these recruits.
“Our experience has found that most graduates from these programmes are not quite prepared for software engineering roles at Google without additional training or previous programming roles in the industry,” said Maggie Johnson, Google’s director of education and university relations.
The report stated that one of the coding schools profiled, which is now closed, charged $14,400 for a 14-week programme.
