Windows 10 to get Dolby Atmos surround sound

Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 and the Xbox One will receive support for Dolby Atmos sound.

According to a report by BetaNews, those who do not have compatible hardware will still benefit from a “virtual Atmos experience”.

Dolby Atmos promises users “moving audio”, with sound that can be “precisely placed and moved anywhere in three-dimensional space, including overhead”.

The new sound support will reportedly give gamers, and those viewing media, a much more immersive experience – creating audio scenarios closer to real life.
