Windows 7 is outdated technology – Microsoft

Windows 7 does not meet the requirements of modern technology, nor the security requirements of IT departments.

This is according to Markus Nitschke, Head of Windows at Microsoft Germany, who was quoted by Neowin.

Windows 7 was developed for use in the late 2000s and basic support for the operating system ended two years ago.

Since then, users have received important security updates, but no new functionality.

Microsoft’s Milad Aslaner said Windows 7 is based on long-outdated security architectures.

Corporate customers should deal with the transition to a more modern operating system around three years before support ends for their current systems, he said.

Companies using Windows 7 for applications with sensitive data will face dangers.

Nitschke said since Windows XP, they saw that companies should take early steps to avoid future risks or costs.

Nitschke and Aslaner advised companies to move to Windows 10.

“With Windows 10, we offer our customers the highest level of security and functionality at the cutting edge.”
