New subscriptions to Microsoft Office 365 in 2016 were down 62% compared to 2015, according to a report by IT World.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said total subscriptions for the office software had reached just under 25 million, with 4.3 million subscribers added during 2016.
“In each of the last three quarters, Office 365 grew by about 900,000 subscribers – the smallest quarterly increase since early 2014,” stated the report.
Microsoft said revenue from the consumer side of Office – which includes Office 365 and licences sold at retail – was up 22% in the latest quarter.
Office 365 Home sells for R115 per month in South Africa, while Office 365 Personal costs R90 per month.
