Linux kernel 3.18 reaches end of life
The Linux kernel 3.18 series has received its last hotfix, putting an end to the release cycle of long-term support.
According to a report by Softpedia, Linux kernel 3.18.48 LTS is the last in the series, which was previously set for “extinction” in January 2017.
“It brings an updated networking stack with Bluetooth, Bridge, IPv4, IPv6, CAIF, and Netfilter improvements,” stated the report.
The report said Linux users should move to a new long-term support branch, such as Linux kernel 4.9 or 4.4.
It also noted that Linux 3.18 is still used by Google and other vendors in several Android-powered devices.
