Microsoft launches Teams group chat for Office
Microsoft has started rolling out its new group chat service – called Teams – to Office 365 business users.
The platform is available to Office 365 business customers in 181 markets, including South Africa.
“We are adding a new tool to Office 365 with Microsoft Teams, a chat-based workspace designed to empower the art of teams,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
Teams is designed to improve workplace communication through filtered chats, cloud security, and built-in Office applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Skype for Business.
The platform offers public and private chats, email integration, mobile audio calling, and video calling for Android devices.
Since the announcement of Teams in November 2016, over 50,000 businesses have adopted the service.
Microsoft said it plans to add deeper integration with Outlook and guest access capabilities to the platform in June.
