Microsoft reveals Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Microsoft has unveiled a new version of Windows 10 Pro designed for workstation PCs.

The operating system is designed to make use of powerful, high-end hardware to increase performance and reliability.

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations includes the following features:

  • ReFS (Resilient File System) – ReFS is designed to increase fault tolerance and reliability by reducing data corruption and optimising backup and data management processes.
  • Persistent memory – The operating system supports NVDIMM-N modules, which deliver non-volatile high-speed memory.
  • SMB Direct – This feature utilises network adapters with RDMA capability to increase data transfer speed with low latency and CPU usage.
  • Hardware Support – Windows 10 Pro for Workstations can run on high-end devices, including server-grade hardware with up to four separate processors and 6TB of memory.

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will be launched as part of the Fall Creators Update.
