Java, C, and C++ are the most popular programming languages in the world, according to the Tiobe Index for October 2017.
C# and JavaScript have continued to gain in popularity among mobile developers at the expense of Java and Swift, it added.
“Until recently, it was quite common to program Android apps in Java and iOS apps in Swift/Objective-C,” stated the report.
“This is quite cumbersome, because you have to maintain two code bases that are doing almost the same thing.”
The PYPL rankings also showed Java at the top of the list, followed by Python and PHP.
