Windows 10 overtakes Windows 7

Windows 10 has overtaken Windows 7 in global market share for PCs that use the web, according to StatCounter.

Windows 10 made up 42.78% of operating system usage share around the world, while Windows 7 was at 41.86%, according to January 2018 figures.

In South Africa, Windows 10 overtook Windows 7 in October 2017, and has 44.12% of the usage share. Windows 7 has 41.24% share.

StatCounter is a web analytics service that calculates various market and usage share statistics, based on visits to over 2 million sites around the world.

Bot activity is removed from the results, it noted.
