The most popular programming languages in the world
Java, C, and C++ remain the most popular programming languages in the world, according to the Tiobe Index for March 2018.
Other popular languages include Python, C#, and JavaScript, according to the Tiobe and PYPL rankings.
A returning entry into the Tiobe top 10 rankings is Ruby, a language which originally became popular among web application developers.
Tiobe said it has also added SQL to the index, due to the fact that the language is now Turing-complete.
The PYPL rankings also showed Java at the top of the list, followed by Python and JavaScript.

PYPL – The more a language tutorial is searched, the more popular the language is assumed to be. The raw data comes from Google Trends.
Tiobe – The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers worldwide, courses, and third-party vendors. Popular search engines are also used to calculate the ratings.
