Apple today announced that it will launch its latest mobile operating system iOS 5 and its cloud service called iCloud on 12 October.

iOS 5 will include iMessage which will allow users to send messages between any two iOS devices. The new mobile operating system will also have tight Twitter integration.

Apple further added in-app photo editing to its iOS 5 operating system as well as a home screen button.

A new iOS 5 service called ‘Find my Friends’ will allow users to share their location with others for defined periods of time.

iOS 5 will be available as a free software update for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS customers.

The company announced that its iCloud service will also be launched on 12 October.

iCloud will allow users to back up their devices, store photos and edit documents on one device and see those edits on any other iCloud connected device.
