MXit launches new developer APIs
MXit has launched a new set of developer APIs, as well as a redesigned MXit Developer Centre.
The new APIs use open web standards to allow a wide-range of developers the ability build apps for the social network.
The new APIs will allow developers access to MXit authentication and messaging, and will also allow developers to publish apps on MXit through its Mobi Portal API.
In addition, developers will also able to tie into the MXit payment system, called forin-app microtransactions, that has over ten million global users.
“In a trial of our new developer APIs, South African development company, Motribe, built its app “JudgeME” in less than a week. Within 4 weeks later, they have over 400,000 users, and over 100,000 successful transactions,” says Andy Volk, Vice President of Developer Relations at MXit.
The new MXit Developer APIs are available on the MXit Developer Centre.
