South Africa’s most trusted software development companies

Synthesis, Codehesion, and Derivco are the preferred software development companies for large business projects among South Africa’s IT decision-makers.

This is according to data from MyBroadband’s Corporate IT brand survey, where IT professionals revealed their preferences regarding business IT solutions.

The survey was completed by 1,518 respondents, the majority of whom were executives and managers deciding on which IT products their companies buy.

The results were filtered only to include respondents who decide which ICT products and services their company uses.

As part of the survey, IT decision-makers were asked which South African software development company they would choose for a large business project.

Synthesis was the most popular choice, with 24% of IT executives saying they would use them for a large software development project.

Synthesis was founded in 1997 by Jake Shepherd and Jack Cohen, who shared a passion for software development.

The company built exceptional skills in developing software for the financial sector. In 2006, Synthesis built its first Internet banking platform in South Africa.

In 2017, Capital Appreciation acquired Synthesis. In the same year, it became the first company in Africa to achieve AWS advanced consulting partner status.

Codehesion ranked second, with 21% of IT executives saying they would use them for a large software development project.

Founded in 2017 by software architect and computer engineer Hector Beyers, Codehesion built a reputation for developing world-class mobile apps.

Its expertise extends across all app development categories and includes project management, front-end and back-end development, testing, and deployment.

In recent years, Codehesion expanded its software development services to include web-based apps and software audits.

Derivco ranked third, with 16% of IT executives saying they would use them for a large software development project.

Derivco was founded in Durban in 1996 as part of the emerging online gaming industry. Since then, it has evolved into a prominent global technology and software development company.
