Microsoft to issue largest security update ever

Microsoft has announced that it would be issuing its largest ever security update on 13 October.  The update will include 13 bulletins which will address 34 vulnerabilities that the company has identified in its products reports the BBC.

Some of the security patches included will resolve several loopholes Microsoft has highlighted in different editions of Windows, Internet Explorer, SQL Server and Office.

One of these updates in particular, which has been flagged as critical, tackles an issue that has arisen in the operation of Internet Explorer 8 within Windows 7, which is due to be released on 22 October.

The updates will be performed automatically but can also be found online at Microsoft’s Security page.

The update is essential to implement in the long run says Microsoft. Some of the loopholes for the FTP (File Transfer Program) which is bundled with Microsoft’s Internet Information Server are already being exploited by cyber criminals.
