Ster-Kinekor recently increased the prices of movie tickets at its cinemas around the country, with the cost to view a 2D movie going up to between R50 and R62; while a 3D movie ticket now goes for between R66 and R79 (excluding glasses).
Asked about the increase, Ster-Kinekor said it was introduced in May 2014 and added that an annual price increase is normal for most companies operating within the entertainment and service industry sectors.
“Ticket prices vary across Ster-Kinekor’s sites, and thus the price increase also varies from site to site,” the cinema chain said.
“Members of the various loyalty programmes linked to Ster-Kinekor like SK Club, Discovery Vitality, and Edgars Club also receive various benefits and discounts on ticket prices,” it said.
The three loyalty programmes work independently from each other, which means you can belong to all three if you wish.
Ticket prices vary from complex to complex (and discounted tickets are applicable for pensioners and children), so Ster-Kinekor provided examples of the prices at different complexes.
These are summarised in the table below.
