2014 MyBroadband Awards winners announced

The 2014 MyBroadband Awards winners were announced at the annual MyBroadband conference today, 30 September 2014. The annual MyBroadband Awards celebrate excellence in the South African broadband and telecommunications industry and are the benchmark for excellence in the local market.

The awards are voted for by South Africa’s IT community in three annual surveys, which means that the results are a true reflection of how well a provider performed over the last year.

The winners of the 2014 MyBroadband Awards are listed below.

Honorary award

Jannie van Zyl received an honorary award for his contribution to broadband in South Africa. Jannie joins the likes of former Vodacom CEO Pieter Uys and former MWEB CEO Rudi Jansen, who both previously received this award.

2014 Company Representative of the year

The company representative of the year award recognises excellence in customer service through the MyBroadband forum.

Winner: Afrihost

2014 App of the year

The app of the year award goes to the company with the best smartphone and tablet App.

Winner: FNB

2014 IT person of the year

The IT person of the year award celebrates the person who made a big difference in the broadband and IT arena in South Africa.

Winner: Afrihost CEO Gian Visser

2014 Fixed broadband provider of the year

The best fixed broadband provider award recognises excellence in the fixed broadband market. The award is based on services offered and innovation in the broadband space.

Winner: Telkom

2014 Mobile broadband provider of the year

The award for the best mobile broadband provider recognises excellence in the mobile broadband market. Again, the award is based on services offered and innovation.

Winner: Telkom

2014 ISP of the year

The award for best ISP goes to the service provider who consumers rate as the best in South Africa.

Winner: Afrihost
