Coolest SA telecoms provider revealed
It is well known that the younger generation have a particularly strong attraction to brands and fashion trends, and although it may be convenient to ignore this market segment as fickle and uninformed, their buying power is significant.
According to the latest Sunday Times Generation Next Brand Survey individuals aged between 8 and 22 have an annual direct spend of R95-billion while they influence around 60% of household buying decisions.
Brand loyalty amoung the youth may also influence their buying decisions in adult life, which results in billions spent globally by marketers to try and corner this market by cementing their brand in the hearts and minds of the young and trendy.
This raises the question as to which IT brands have been successful in making an impression on the youth market in South Africa. This question is answered by the Generation Next Brand Survey where 5,835 youngsters were quizzed on their brand preferences and which products they thought were cool.
The following tables provide an overview of which brands made it to the top.
