Inside the new Nu Metro Scene Xtreme cinema

Nu Metro Cinemas opened its third Scene Xtreme cinema, at the Clearwater Mall in Johannesburg, on 2 July.

The first Xtreme cinema was launched at Nu Metro The Glen in 2014, followed by Nu Metro Menlyn in Pretoria.

The latest Scene Xtreme cinema will be the first cinema in Gauteng to feature the new Dolby Atmos sound system.

The Dolby Atmos system promises more detailed, “multidimensional” sound which “flow all around the cinema in three-dimensional space – even overhead”.

Apart from Dolby Atmos sound, Nu Metro Scene Xtreme at Clearwater Mall will also be showcasing RealD’s new Precision White Screen along with the DP4K-23B projector delivering 4K UHD visuals.

“The next-generation audiovisual technology installed is supported by the ultimate in luxury seats at Scene Xtreme – designed to recline for first class comfort,” said Nu Metro Cinemas.

The screen technology used for Scene Xtreme will stretch from floor to ceiling – about three stories high.

To complement the Scene Xtreme cinema, Scene VIP will be introduced at Nu Metro Clearwater Mall within the next two months, where viewers can relax in a lounge before the movie.
