With movies and TV series like The Matrix, Mr Robot, and Hackers, being a techie has become fashionable. The downside is that every noob and his dog now claim to be techies or geeks.

Being able to install an app on a smartphone or plugging a username and password into an ADSL router hardly qualifies you as a techie.

However, if you run Linux, can program a Raspberry Pi, and coded you own website instead of using WordPress, you are certainly tech-savvy.

If you prefer command line interfaces over graphical user interfaces, it will be another feather in your techie cap.
