Minecraft movie will compete against Star Wars

Minecraft developer Mojang has revealed that the movie based on its game will release on 24 May 2019.

That is the the same weekend as Star Wars: Episode IX, and only a few weeks after Marvel’s Infinity War film are set to release, Polygon reported.

Vu Bui from Mojang said it “might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome. And we all want an awesome Minecraft movie, right?”

The film will be directed by Rob McElhenney and will be available in 3D and IMAX.

Roy Lee, producer of the Lego Movie, will reportedly assist in the creation of the film.
