Third LulzSec hacker arrested
An 18 year old hacker arrested last week for his alleged involvement with hacking groups Anonymous and LulzSec has been named as Jake Davis, a teen hacker from the Shetland Islands in the UK.
While Scotland Yard remains tight lipped regarding Davis, revealing only that he will appear in a London court on Monday morning, a Blog post[http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2011/07/31/jake-davis-named-as-suspected-hacker-topiary-by-uk-police/] by Graham Cluley of Sophos lists five of the charges against Davies:
- Unauthorized access to a computer system, contrary to Section 3 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
- Encouraging / assisting offences, contrary to S46 of the Serious Crime Act 2007.
- Conspiracy with others to carry out a Distributed Denial of Service Attack on the Web site of the Serious and Organised Crime Agency contrary to S1 Criminal Law Act 1977.
- Conspiracy to commit offences of section 3 Computer Misuse Act 1990, contrary to S1 Criminal Law Act 1977.
- Conspiracy between the defendant and others to commit offences of section 3 Computer Misuse Act 1990 contrary to S1 Criminal Law Act 1977.
While a post on the LulzSec Blog stated that Davis is not the hacker “Topiary”, who is thought to be second-in-command of the LulzSec group, he previously acted as a PR liaison for hacktivist group Anonymous.
Topiary’s personal twitter account has recently seen posts deleted from its timeline, while the @LulzSec twitter account has been quiet since July 27, the day Davis was arrested.
