Tablet PC price cut a possibility
According to industry sources, tablet PC manufacturers will start considering price cuts for their current tablet PC offerings. This is due to lower than expected sales and high order volumes which have resulted in an inventory overstock.
Sources pointed out that Asus, which has stronger than average sales, had shipments of 700,000 tablets from May to July. This overshoots their actual sales figure of around 500,000 by quite a margin, indicating that price cuts could be imminent.
The same sources expect two waves of price cuts between September and December, with the entry level price of a tablet dropping from around $370 to $350, then further still to $300 in the future.
