HP tablet PC’s final run

Following the discontinuation of the Touchpad tablet PC, HP is set to produce one final “limited quantity” run of the device before the end of October to meet demand for the unit.

The likely scenario is that this is a move to clear out excess stock of Touchpad components rather than an attempt to revive the failed device.

While the Touchpad has been discontinued, the device was a success at its clearance price of only $99 (around R700). In addition to this, HP is issuing a few updates and an assortment of free apps to device users. Developers around the internet are also working on a build of the Android operating system to run on the Touchpad.
