Apple employee loses unreleased iPhone
News site Cnet has reported that an unreleased iPhone was lost by an Apple employee in San Francisco in late July. This resulted in a scramble operation by Apple’s security team to recover the device in the days following the incident.
Last year a similar incident where an iPhone 4 prototype went missing saw a gadget blog pay $5,000 for the device ahead of its release. This incident was far lower profile, with the new prototype reportedly sold on Craigslist for $200. Details regarding the device, the operating system it was running and what it looks like are still unclear.
Apple, the San Francisco police department and Craigslist have declined to comment on the report.
