Intel not considering MeeGo sale

Responding to rumours that Samsung has expressed interest in purchasing the MeeGo operating system, a representative from Intel has stated that the company remains committed to the OS.

Doug Suttles, systems software division manager at Intel pointed out that the company remains committed to the Linux-based operating system, though followed by saying he could “only comment on what’s happening today.”

MeeGo was introduced in February 2010 and was seen as a merger of Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo operating systems. Nokia has since moved to make use of the Windows Mobile operating system on future high end handsets, which has left MeeGo void of hardware to run on.
