YouTube gets built in video editor
YouTube is adding a video editor feature to its online services that will allow users to make changes to the videos after they have been uploaded.
In an interview with Cnet, Jason Toff from YouTube explained the thinking behind the new feature. “We noticed a lot of the videos that were uploaded to YouTube could use some polish, some basic video editing,” Toff said. “We noticed a lot of videos that had extra footage at the beginning that could have been trimmed off, or some footage at the end that could be trimmed off, a lot of videos that were really shaky and could use stabilization, and dark videos, etc.”
The new feature allows users to perform a variety of quick fixes, such as trimming the beginning and end of videos, increasing the fill light to brighten them up and changing colour saturation and tone. There is also an “I’m feeling lucky” button that analyses the video and performs minor tweaks
