HP wants to axe CEO
The board of directors at Hewlett-Packard will meet to discuss the future of company CEO Leo Apotheker following company decisions that have left a bad taste in the mouths of investors.
Under Apotheker’s leadership, the company has shut down webOS hardware development, canned the unsuccessful TouchPad tablet PC, and is considering spinning off or selling the companies PC division.
Potential replacements for Apotheker include ex-eBay CEO Meg Whitman, currently a member of the HP board of directors.
Apotheker’s replacement will be the second new CEO to take the helm of HP in the last year, with Apotheker himself only recently appointed after former CEO Mark Hurd was caught up in an expense-reporting scandal.
