Meg Whitman named HP CEO
Meg Whitman, former eBay CEO and HP director has been named the new CEO and president of Hewlett-Packard.
The appointment follows the ousting of former CEO Leo Apotheker, who found himself on the wrong side of investors after accusations that he misled the company.
HP stock has dropped 47 percent in value over the last 11 months, due in most part to a series of gaffes which included canning the webOS mobile operating system as well as the TouchPad, HP’s first attempt at a tablet PC.
Ray Lane, HP’s current non-executive, will become executive chairman of the board.
