Apple rejects Samsung settlement offer
Samsung approached the Cupertino based company last week with an offer to help secure a quick court ruling which would see Samsung able to immediately launch the Galaxy Tab range of tablet PC devices in Australia.
However, Apple rejected the offer, saying the proposal by Samsung provided no basis for a settlement.
“It is one we don’t accept and there is no surprise. The main reason we are here is to prevent the launch and maintain the status quo,” Apple lawyer Steven Burley said.
Following the rejection of the settlement, Samsung lawyers told the court that the chances of an immediate settlement in the case were low. “It is not going to be achievable your honour, given the positions advanced by each party,” a Samsung lawyer said.
