Apple has 1000 mobile chip engineers

According to a TechCrunch report, the recently deceased Steve Jobs told an unidentified Silicon Valley CEO that Apple has 1000 engineers working on improving mobile processor technology.

The unidentified CEO went on, “Getting low power and smaller is the key to everything, form factor no longer becomes an issue.”

Apple has reportedly increased its in-house processor focus, following the acquisition of two chipmakers. In 2008 Apple bought PA Semi, a low power chip firm who first began designing low power chips based on the Power architecture.

Apple then purchased chipmaker Intrinsity is 2010. Intrinsity had previously worked with Samsung to boost processor performance on mobile chips.
