BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0 delayed
Research in Motion (RIM) confirmed in a blog post that the PlayBook OS 2.0 update won’t be released until February 2012.
The company also reported having issues with BlackBerry Messenger integration in the OS update.
They also noted that BBM will not be included in the native apps bundle of PlayBook OS 2.0, but will instead feature at a later date.
“First off, we have decided to defer the inclusion of the BBM application to a subsequent BlackBerry PlayBook OS release. We are committed to developing a seamless BBM solution that fully delivers on the powerful, push-based messaging capabilities recognized today by BlackBerry users around the world and we’re still working on it.”
RIM did, however, confirm that users can make use of BBM by connecting an existing BlackBerry smartphone, with the data plan, to the PlayBook over Bluetooth using BlackBerry Bridge.
