iPhone more interesting than Lohan, Kardashians
According to the Yahoo Year in Review list, the “iPhone” was the most popular search term in 2011, making it the second technology device in history to take top honours.
Joining the ranks of previous top spot holders such as Britney Spears and Michael Jackson, the iPhone generated interest throughout 2011. This was spurred on by rumours of an iPhone 5 model to be released in the latter half of the year, Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ death in October, and the eventual unveiling of the iPhone 4S model in early October.
Following the iPhone on the list were celebrities Casey Anthony, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, and Jennifer Aniston. Rounding off the top 10 list was American Idol, Japan earthquake, and Osama bin Laden.
