Asus sued over “Transformer Prime” name
Hasbro, the company who owns various trademarks relating to the term Transformer, has sued Asus over the name of the company’s new tablet device, the Transformer Prime.
Hasbro currently has a pending trademark on the Transformer Prime name, and is worried that consumers could confuse the tablet device with their range of toys and action figures relating the successful cartoon and movie series.
Hasbro released a statement saying, “Hasbro continues to aggressively protect its brands and products and the specific actions we are taking today against Asus underscores yet again Hasbro’s willingness to pursue companies who misappropriate our intellectual property for their own financial gain.”
Hasbro is seeking damages from Asus, as well as a temporary injunction to prevent sales of the Asus tablet in North America.
