Apple plans New York event in January

AllThingsD has reported that Apple is planning to hold a media-related event in the Big Apple in late January 2012, though neither the iPad 3 nor a new Apple TV is expected to headline the show.

While the next generation iPad and a new interactive television are both expected to release in 2012, both are expected to debut later on in the year.

AllThingsD also notes that Eddy Cue, vice president of internet software and services is reportedly involved, which could hint that the event is focused more on advertising or publishing.

Cue is in charge of various Apple media units, including the iTunes Store, App Store and iBookstore, along with the iAd and iCloud services.
