Google tablet to take on Kindle Fire?
Taiwan based news site Digitimes has reported that it’s “sources” in Google’s upstream supply chain believe the search giant is busy working on a 7-inch class device to compete with Amazon’s successful Kindle Fire tablet PC.
These sources expect the Android tablet to arrive in Autumn 2012, and be priced below $299 (R2,432) to compete effectively with Amazon’s $199 budget offering.
This new report follows a previous report by Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera who claim Google chairman Eric Schmidt mentioned that the company plans to “market a tablet of the highest quality” within the next six months.
Google has refused to comment on the situation.
