iPad 3 rumour roundup
According to sources speaking to iLounge, the iPad 3 is on its way for a late Q1 debut, bringing with it a higher resolution screen, updated cameras and a thicker profile.
The next generation Apple iPad is expected to ship with a “retina” display similar to the ones found on the iPhone 4 and 4S. The resolution is expected to be double that found on previous iPads, 1536×2048 instead of 768×1024.
iLounge also reports that both front and rear cameras will get a spec bump. The front facing camera will be HD, while the rear facing camera may match the one found in the iPhone 4S.
The specification bump has come at a price though, the new iPad will supposedly get thicker by “1mm give or take” according to iLounge.
The iPad 3 is expected to come in at a price point of $499 (R4076.20) while the iPad 2’s price point will drop to $399 (R3,259.32).
