With Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom in jail and many other top level managers out on bail, it seemed just a matter of time until the company’s data was permanently deleted.

“The hosting companies have been gracious enough to provide additional time so we can work out some kind of arrangement with the government,” Rothken said.
Rothken also said that information crucial to Megaupload’s defence may be part of the files at risk of deletion, and said that a solution has to be worked out to protect evidence.
