Pinterest user-base booms
Pinterest now boasts 4 million unique daily visitors – twice as many as it had in January 2012, according to social media marketer, Tamba.
The two-year-old service still has women aged between 25 and 54 as its core audience, but more and more men are starting to sign up and use it daily. Men now make up 28 percent of new members on the site, compared to 20 percent in January.
The top three audience interests on the site are fashion designers and collections; music, art and memorabilia; and vineyards and wine tourism.
Pinterest is currently valued at $200 million (R1.55 billion), after raising $27 million (R209 million) in funding.Comparatively, Instagram raised $77 million (R596.96 million) for a pre-acquisition value of $500 million (R3.88 billion).
