Google Chrome now world’s most popular browser
Google Chrome has beaten Microsoft’s Internet Explorer to become the overall most popular internet web browser, according to recent StatCounter numbers.
Chrome had previously topped Internet Explorer in selected world regions, and occasionally on weekends; however, it has never been able to top worldwide Internet Explorer use over a longer period of time.
The latest StatCounter numbers show Google’s browser averaging higher than Internet Explorer over a seven day period, from 14 May to 20 May.
Chrome raked up 32.76 percent average market share over the period, marginally ahead of Microsoft’s 31.94 percent. Mozilla Firefox was in third with 25.47 percent.
However, Chrome’s overall usage did decline after 20 May, down to 31.88 percent – still marginally ahead of Internet Explorer’s 31.47 percent.
