An untethered jailbreak solution for Apple iOS 5.1.1 has been downloaded over a million times, according to the developers.
Chronic Dev Team, developers of the Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak, have tweeted that, as of Sunday evening, the software had been downloaded over one million times.
In addition, 973,086 iOS devices have already been jailbroken by the software, 211,401 of which were the Apple iPad 3.
The program was released to the public on 25 May, and allows Apple devices based on the A4, A5 and A5X chipsets to be jailbroken without needing to be connected to a computer.
Jailbreaking allows iOS device users to circumvent Apple security restrictions and install custom software on their device.
However, Chronic Dev Team did note that the software is not yet compatible with Apple iPad 2 models that feature a revised chipset based on a new 32nm manufacturing process.
