Google Nexus tablet confirmed, maybe

Google

Google’s unannounced Nexus tablet device may have been accidentally confirmed by benchmark results uploaded to Rightware’s Power Board benchmark test result site.

A device resembling the rumoured Nexus tablet recently appeared in the results database, and confirms features that users are likely to see in the final Nexus tablet.

These include a 7 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 768 and a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.3GHz.

The benchmark also confirmed that the device manufacturer is Asus, and showed the device is running Android 4.1 with the build number JRN51B. Speculations suggest that the “J” in the build number is a reference to Google’s upcoming version of Android, codenamed Jelly Bean.

Google is expected to announce the device at the annual I/O Developer conference, taking place in San Francisco from 27 to 29 June.

The device is expected to retail for between $199 (R1,699.07) and $249 (R2,125.97).
