Apple iPhone 5, 4S parts compared
Shells of what sources claim are the Apple iPhone 5 casing, have appeared online over the last week.
The one particularly interesting shell component is the front panel of the device.
Japanese tech blog Macotakara managed to get hold of the sample panels, and have compared them to an iPhone 4S to show the apparent size difference of the new phone.
The front panel’s display slot measures 4.07 inches (10.33c) diagonally, and appears to be the same width as the iPhone 4S. The panel is taller than the iPhone 4S body, and features a larger light sensor hole placed above the speaker port.
Both the Wall Street Journal and Reuters have reported that Apple’s next smartphone is expected to feature a 4 inch display.
Other leaked panels have indicated the 3.5mm headset jack has moved to the bottom of the device similar to the placement of the jack on the iPod Touch.
The parts pictured may not be for the final version of the iPhone 5 smartphone, but they do line up with previous rumours concerning device specifications.
