Asus debuts Windows 8 Transformer
Asus has demonstrated a new line of Transformer laptop/tablet devices that will run the upcoming Windows 8 operating system.
The demonstration took place at the Computex expo in Taiwan.
The Asus Transformer Book range will come in 11.6, 13, and 14 inch screen sizes with a resolution of 1920×1080, and feature Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors.
The new device will also feature 4GB of RAM, an SSD for storage and integrated Nvidia graphics, though it’s unclear which Nvidia graphics chip will make it into the final product.
Asus demonstrated a prototype at the event which is “positively riddled with air vents” according to technology news site Extremetech, raising concerns about the cooling ability of the device in final production form.
Asus, Acer and Toshiba are all expected to show off new hardware running on the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processors and Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system.
