Twitter’s new update brings multimedia integration

Twitter has announced that the social network is implementing new features to bring in content from various media partners.

Users can now watch or view certain content straight from their Twitter feed, without leaving the site’s update stream.

Content from partners like the NY Times, Wall Street Journal and TIME, can now be viewed through the feed without clicking on the original link.

Users are also able to view images or video directly in the tweet from a number of multimedia partners, namely WWE, BuzzFeed and TMZ using the in-tweet image function.  Some companies like BET, Lifetime and Dailymotion are even showcasing their videos through Twitter.

The new features also apply to the mobile site, with Twitter product manager Michael Sippey mentioning that the new capabilities will also be available through native iPhone and Android apps in due time.
