Firefox working on “Junior” for iPad

Mozilla Firefox

iPad users will soon have an alternative to the default Safari browser, courtesy of Mozilla.

The foundation best known for its popular Firefox web browser, says it is busy working on a dedicated Apple iPad version of Firefox, named “Junior”.

Mozilla says the new browser “makes browsing more fun, more ergonomic and re-thinks [the] browser-user experience from the ground up.”

The new browser sports a simple interface with just two buttons which are positioned where iPad users’ thumbs would go. The back button is under the left thumb, and handles the standard “back to previous web page” function.

There is a plus button under the right thumb, which opens up a menu with more features that will allow users to enter a manual URL and go to a recently-viewed or bookmarked site.

Mozilla has yet to announce a release date for Junior.
