Siri-like app aims for banking services

Lola is a new virtual personal assistant that BBVA Compass, the US subsidiary of Spanish banking giant Banco Bilbao Viczaya Argentaria, started testing on its website Tuesday.

Lola is the co-creation of BBVA and SRI International, the development team behind Siri, the virtual personal assistant now built into Apple’s iPhone 4S.

The app, which is planned to be integrated into various banking services, allows users to control Lola’s interface through voice-recognition.

Users can ask Lola questions about their accounts and balances, in order to simulate a conversation with a bank teller.

The aim of Lola is to provide users with a personal supervisor and assistant to online banking, in terms of helping and warning when fees or costs are incurred.
